Tales of the Teeth

Just about from the time the kids were born there has been some discussion of teeth. When will they get them? They are drooling a lot, surely they are teething. If they get teeth, they will be able to eat so much easier. Etc, etc, etc. And now, with two well into the losing teeth as quickly as Alex loses lunchboxes stage, the talk of teeth continues. After all, as parents we waited anxiously for them to get their first teeth (and all 3 of them made us wait until after their first birthdays), then there is always a molar or two popping up which can be the blame for various afflictions (crabbiness, diarrhea, insomnia, etc). And, then, when they start school, we start talking about loose teeth and just how loose are they, how to get them out, etc. And, in a way, it is comforting- a constant topic- a certain cycle of childhood that seems to go on forever. Until, one day, when the baby teeth start falling out like mad, and you realize that the same teeth you are holding in your hand now are the ones that you were so over-excited about so many quick years ago. And time flies. And you can't put the baby teeth back in. And you can't make them babies again. All those memories stored in the sweet, innocent baby tooth so carefully now tucked under the pillow awaiting a visit from the tooth fairy (who may or may not remember to come).

And so, we will relish our last baby teeth, as they are leaving us quickly. Funny how such a small
thing can transform a sweet face from a baby to a kid.

At least we have one who still has all her baby teeth :)

And, here they all are, looking far too grown up :(

Animal Antics

Anyone who has a pet and has seen Sarah with that pet knows she is an absolute animal FREAK. In a good way, of course. I was reminded of this today when I went to bring Anna to one of her friend's houses to play for the day. They have a little Yorkie puppy (all of about 4 pounds I think). Sarah (who is not our shy one) spotted the puppy through the front door, burst right into the house, scooped up that puppy and announced that she was ready to go home with her puppy. Yes, lots of crying and tears followed as we pryed the poor pup out of Sarah's death grip and dragged her home. Don't worry though, as she does have her own, very well loved (and not as likely to be squished to death) animal :)

Let's Play H-O-C-K-E-Y!!!!

Our first official hockey season has come to a close. Overall, not too bad! Alex perfected his "hockey stop" and can now confidently skate forwards, backwards and crossover (although he is better at turning one direction vs the other). He is definitely a "defense" kind of player and loves to skate down the ice chasing after the puck. He scored his share of goals and in general had a great time. There was such a difference between this sport and others (ie; tennis, soccer, t-ball) that we have had him in. Not once did we have to "drag" him to practice. He was typically ready to go about 2 hours before it was time to leave. I can honestly say he loved every exhausting minute of it. Here are some pictures from the Jamboree.

For those interested, Alex will be playing in a "fun" spring league- all games rotating between North St Paul and Tartan- should be a blast! Let me know if you would be interested in watching a game- Alex loves fans :)

Cupcakes and Cuteness

So, last weekend Anna and I decided to make pink cupcakes (you know, just like Pinkalicious). Our first batch of cupcakes turned out great. Then, we realized we were completely out of cupcake liners. So, in a moment of brilliance, we decided to just spray the mini muffin pan and make "mini-cupcakes". And, here they are...
Don't they look great? And that non-stick spray worked awesome, wouldn't you say?

But, not all was lost, someone still had a great time with our "mini-cupcake" adventure :)
FYI- this is the "cuteness" part of the post....
