Thanks for visiting my blog. It's sort of a running history of the trials and tribulations of raising a busy family. I work full time as a nurse and my husband is at home keeping the rest of our lives in some sort of order. Life is busy, fun and challenging every single day. I hope you enjoy our story!

A lesson in Civics

Cute Alex story coming up :) This evening we were getting ready to go to the store to get Alex a new life jacket as he has passed the 50 pound mark and so needs the next size up. We are picking up our new boat tomorrow and so need to make sure we are ready! That's a whole other post, which I will save for when we have pictures of the aforementioned boat. Anyways, Alex decided he also needed to buy a new lure. First, for those of you who don't know- Alex is an absolute fishing nut and has more lures than probably any 7 year old you'll ever meet. He had gotten some dollar coins from his aunt and uncle for his birthday and spent some on part of his new scooter, but had saved a few of them for fishing lures. So, as we were getting ready, he ran down to his room to get his money. He was looking at the pictures on the coins and said, "Is this a picture of the queen?" Chris looked at it and said, "No, that is the statue of liberty". Alex: "What is liberty?" Me: "It is like freedom, when you get to be free to do what you want and people can't tell you what to do". Alex: (absolute dead serious look on his face) "I can't wait until I can get some of that". So- that is now Alex's new favorite buzzword- liberty. I'm sure he'll be using this anytime we do anything "unjust" to him :)

Screamin' Sarah

Sarah is quite vocal lately. Here she was in a bouncy house at cousin Tyler's birthday party. She really was acting like a caged animal!

Junebugs

June has been a busy month so far. Alex turned 7 and finished up his first year of "real" school. Anna and Alex have started T-ball, which is such a blast to watch. If you are in town, they play every Sunday evening at 6:15- let me know if you are interested. Sarah is busy, busy, busy. She took her first steps (sorry- didn't get them on camera- I think it was kind of a fluke). She is also extremely loud (I will post video soon) and is always getting into EVERYTHING! All said, it has been a good month so far. The kids are enjoying summer. I start grad school next week already. I'm still wondering what in the world I was thinking even applying, but I'm just going to go for it, jump in with both feet and hope I don't sink! Here are some recent pictures of the family enjoying the warm weather :)

Age Requirements

Ok....just a cute little story I thought I'd share. We are always talking about whether or not the kids are old enough to do things. For instance, video games always have a rating, such as "T" for teen, etc. That is our reasoning and decision on whether we let them do things. So, today, I was shopping at Target with Alex and Anna. As many of you probably know, Alex's 7th birthday is coming up soon- hard to believe, I know! Anyways, he got really excited and ran over to an end cap and said...."Mom, mom, mom, can we get this PLEASE- look it says for 7 and UP, and I'm almost 7!!!" Yes...you may have guessed, it was a case of 7UP. I had to buy it for him. After all, he is almost 7 :)

She finally did it!!

Anna has been asking for about a year now to get her ears pierced. We have even gotten as far as the earring store, paperwork filled out, sitting in the chair and she changed her mind. She finally did it today though. She cried a lot and was really scared but once it was done she was sooo excited. She has been showing them off to everyone today and calling everybody she couldn't show. Here are some pictures of the proud girl.
